The fashion scene took over New York in mid-February for the presentation of Fall 2011 collections during New York Fashion Week. Wow! What a fashion week it was.

Designers used fur to flex their creative muscles for their fall/winter 2011-2012 collections presenting some of the most innovative and exciting fur and fur-trimmed fashions we’ve ever seen. Fur was in abundance. There was more depth in more collections than we’ve ever seen before. And outerwear seemed to take on a more pivotal role within collections, perhaps because the imprint of a cold and snowy winter was fresh on designers’ minds.

Once again this season fur stands out as a key trend as designers explore texture, color and proportion. They are shearing fur, dying fur, knitting fur and mixing fur types. They are combining innovative techniques with design creativity and detailed craftsmanship.  And they are anticipating the desires of their customers to deliver “must have” fashions that clearly...
