REMIX 2008: Fur Information Council of America Submits Entries for International Fur Trade Federations REMIX Design Competition

From over 40 entries sent in from fashion design schools across the United States, a panel of manufacturers, designers and stylists selected three US finalists for the IFTF’s REMIX 2008 Competition, the International Fur Trade Federation’s highly regarded annual design competition. Sara Shahbazi from Parsons, Paulina Bui from Parsons and Aisha Moten from VCU, each submitted sketch and concept designs which exhibited creativity, salability and originality in their design. These entries were submitted against over 50 entries from 18 member countries, the most in the design competition’s five year history.
Sara Shahbazi’s design was a fitted, silver blue sheared mink 7/8th coat with a curvature pattern, and was manufactured by Alexandros Furs with fur product donated by NAFA.
Aisha Moten’s garment was a silver and crystal fox, raccoon and mink coat manufactured by Funtastic Furs with fur product donated by SAGA.
Paulina Bui designed a transformable sheared burgundy mink and leather hip length coat to shrug, manufactured by Jerry Sorbara Furs with fur product donated by American Legend.
The US finalists garments were showcased in the IFTF REMIX 2008 Runway Presentation held on March 14th at MiFur, the Milan Fur Fashion Fair
