Dominant Showing At 2012 Fall Haute Couture Shows Solidify Fur As A Top Choice for Designers, Buyers & Consumers
Tuesday July 17, 2012 (West Hollywood, CA) – Fall 2012 Haute Couture Shows are now officially complete and fur’s presence continues to grow – a sure sign that demand is up as well. This year’s Haute Couture week showcased 25 international designers treating us the very best of their creativity; with sixteen of them choosing to put their best foot forward with fur in their collections.
If Haute Couture is traditionally meant to set global trends that trickle down to all retail and socio-economic levels of consumers, then the 97 fur looks that sauntered down the Paris Haute Couture runways bodes well for the fur industry this coming fall season.
Not only are designers using more fur trim, accents and embellishments than ever before, they are upping the ante, adapting fur as a luxe textile to create dresses, pullovers, pantsuits and full ensembles. This transcends the traditional mindset that fur is only an outerwear option. Best evidenced in the Couture collection from bellwether designer Dior; fur from head to toe is subtly luxurious and complementary to the female form.
